Description:
Great Plains Food Bank can assist with applications or re-certifications for SNAP benefits for low income individuals/families. The Mobile Food Pantry is a program of the Great Plains Food Bank. It is a food pantry on wheels, much like a bookmobile. The truck will arrive at the scheduled time with pre-packed food boxes onboard. People in need of food assistance meet the truck, fill out a short form, and are handed their box off the back of the truck at no charge. This program is a way to get additional food assistance to more people and more communities. The Great Plains Food Bank is North Dakota's largest hunger-relief organization, distributing more than twelve million pounds of food each year to over 215 food shelves, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and other non-profit feeding programs in 112 communities across North Dakota and Clay County of Minnesota. The services of the Mobile Food Pantry are currently available quarterly in Center, Langdon, Walhalla, Cavalier, New Rockford, Sheyenne, Carrington, Linton, Strasburg, Hazelton, Cooperstown, McVille, Lakota, Edgely, Oakes and Gwinner. The GPFB also distributes CSFP or Senior Commodities to 26 counties in central ND. This program provides food baskets every other month to qualifying seniors over the age of 60.
